Can I Forward iPhone Texts to WhatsApp?
Yes — with some additional setup. PhoneLeash on iPhone can't post to WhatsApp directly, but the messages it forwards can be routed into a WhatsApp chat using an intermediary service. Detailed step-by-step instructions are coming soon.
How It Works (At a High Level)
iOS does not allow third-party apps — PhoneLeash included — to send messages into WhatsApp on your behalf. The workaround is to send your forwarded text to an intermediary (such as an email-to-WhatsApp gateway or a WhatsApp Business API webhook), which then delivers it to the WhatsApp number or group you choose.
Once configured, every incoming text on your iPhone shows up in your selected WhatsApp chat within seconds, alongside the email forward.
Detailed Instructions
We're writing up the full setup as a separate help article — it should be published shortly. In the meantime, if you'd like to set this up now, get in touch and we'll walk you through it.
What About the Other Direction?
Forwarding incoming WhatsApp messages from your iPhone to email is a different question — and it isn't supported on iPhone. iOS does not expose WhatsApp messages to Shortcuts or any other third-party app. WhatsApp forwarding to email is supported on PhoneLeash for Android.
