Stop “[ignore me]” System Messages

If you've set PhoneLeash up to also forward your texts to a second phone, you may occasionally see a short message like this arrive on that phone:

These are harmless — as the message says, you can safely ignore them. But if they start crowding the second phone's inbox, there are two easy ways to stop them.

Easiest: filter them in your texting app

Most texting apps let you hide or filter messages that contain a particular word. Set up a filter for [ignore me] and these system messages will be tucked away automatically. This is usually the quickest option, and it doesn't touch your PhoneLeash setup at all.

Or: block them in the Automation

You can also stop them at the source with a small edit to the PhoneLeash shortcut. Open the PhoneLeash SMS action shortcut in the Shortcuts app and add an If condition around the Send step, so the message is only sent on to your second phone when it does not contain [ignore me]:

With that in place, ordinary texts still reach your second phone, but the [ignore me] system messages are skipped.
